Welcome!

Hi everybody, I’m Healthy Andy and welcome to my site.  You’ll be able to find out all kinds of great information about health, from diet, exercise, nutritional supplement tips, you name it.  As I like to say, life’s tough- better get healthy.

I’d like to start it all off with a quick link to a fantastic documentary about the food industry called “Food, Inc”.  You know, we rarely think about just where it is our food actually comes from- how it’s grown, harvested, and reaches the store.  This movie is a HUGE eye-opener guarenteed to change the way you think about your grocery cart.  Check it out.  Oh… and it’s FREE  until April 29th.

    Hi Andy:

Just stumbled upon your site, because I’m doing research for a friend who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I found the article on chemo and CQ 10 – thank you.

I also love what you said about grass-fed beef. That has also been my same feeling all along. As a Celiac – or wheat intolerant person – I am surprised that you don’t have anything about wheat and grains. For me, that is the real neurotoxin poison, not meat. I think this has largely been under the radar, but my body does not lie.

Wheat, grains and dairy also make the inflammation in my body flare up dramatically, as well as cauce UTIs, migraines, joint problems .. a whole gamut.

I’m surprised that you haven’t dealt with this topic yet. I will be a regular visitor here – love your blog!

Hi Kat, thanks for your comments and suggestions! When it comes to grains, I’ve most talked about refined carbs and grains being a problem (like in this article) and also about inflammation in general but I haven’t gotten around to discussing the specific topic of celiac disease just yet. I do believe that the best possible diet is the Paleo-type, all whole foods diet. Most people just don’t need grains at all… I find generally only athletes or those who are so super-active with their jobs that they can’t possibly get enough calories in realisitically with a Paleo diet. Even then, they should stick with TRUE whole grains, like wild rice or steel-cut oats. Of course, those with an allergic intolerance for grains need to avoid all that entirely.

Keep an eye out, though… I do take requests, and I’ll get to discussing celiac disease soon!
